Description
Kisspeptin-10 (Kp-10) is the C-terminal decapeptide fragment of the KISS1 gene product metastin and the minimal active sequence retaining full agonist activity at the kisspeptin receptor (KISS1R / GPR54). In vitro and rodent-model research literature has characterized its interaction with KISS1R-expressing GnRH neurons in hypothalamic tissue and downstream phospholipase C / IP3 signaling pathways (Kotani et al., J. Biol. Chem., 2001). Rodent-model hypothalamic investigations have examined its association with the GnRH-LH axis pulsatile signaling pathway (Messager et al., Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA, 2005). Findings in in vitro / animal studies do not necessarily translate to other systems.
Kisspeptin is a neuropeptide encoded by the KISS1 gene. It acts on the GPR54 receptor.
