Description
PNC-27 is a synthetic 32-residue chimeric peptide consisting of the HDM-2-binding domain of p53 (residues 12-26 / 1-12 depending on construct) fused to a membrane-residency-domain (penetratin-class) carrier sequence. In vitro research literature has characterized its interaction with HDM-2 protein localized to transformed-cell plasma membranes and downstream membrane-pore formation signaling pathways (Do et al., Oncogene, 2003). In vitro tumor-cell-line and xenograft murine-model investigations have examined its association with HDM-2-dependent membranolytic pathway selectivity in transformed versus non-transformed cell preparations (Sookraj et al., Int. J. Med. Sci., 2014). Findings in in vitro / animal studies do not necessarily translate to other systems.
