Description
DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide) is a 9-amino-acid neuropeptide originally isolated from rabbit cerebroventricular dialysate of electrically induced slow-wave sleep states. In vitro and rodent-model research literature has characterized its interaction with hypothalamic and limbic neural tissue and downstream modulation of EEG delta-band oscillation pathways (Schoenenberger & Monnier, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA, 1977). Rodent-model investigations have examined its association with adrenocortical signaling pathway modulation and circadian-axis neuropeptide cascades (Graf & Kastin, Neurosci. Biobehav. Rev., 1986). Findings in in vitro / animal studies do not necessarily translate to other systems.
Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide (DSIP) is a naturally occurring nonapeptide with the sequence Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu.
