Description
IGF-1 LR3 is a recombinant analog of human insulin-like growth factor-1 in which Glu³ is substituted with Arg and a 13-amino-acid N-terminal extension is appended, yielding reduced affinity for IGF-binding proteins and extended bioavailability in serum. In vitro and rodent-model research literature has characterized its interaction with the IGF-1 receptor (IGF-1R) tyrosine kinase and downstream PI3K/Akt and MAPK signaling pathways (Tomas et al., Biochem. J., 1993). Rat-model investigations have examined its association with skeletal muscle protein turnover signaling pathways and IGFBP-attenuated receptor engagement profiles (Bagley et al., Br. J. Nutr., 2010). Findings in in vitro / animal studies do not necessarily translate to other systems.
